Emergency Off-Loading Conveyor – Sophie Oldendorff
On June 16, 2010 a fire broke out on board the Sophie Oldendorff, in the Port of Tampa. The fire was caused by a mechanical failure of the conveyor belt system. The ship wasn’t damaged, but the belt was completely destroyed. Davis Industrial was contracted to design and build a 90 ft box truss conveyor to offload the balance of 51,000 tons of aggregate. We succeeded in completing a 36″ 1000 ton/hour conveyor in three and a half days, and the Sophie Oldendorff completed a successful offload.
