Davis' Sand Mine Specialists Help an Aggregate Material Supplier
Our client faced a critical operational challenge involving a broken belt in their sand stacker and a significant oil leak in the TXT8 gearbox. Operating in an environment where efficient machinery is paramount, they needed an urgent solution to address these issues and ensure the seamless continuation of their operations.
The Challenge
The sand stacker's broken belt and the leaky TXT8 gearbox posed immediate threats to their operational efficiency. Recognizing the severity of the situation, a swift and effective resolution was essential to prevent further disruptions and potential long-term damage.
Our Approach
We used our emergency conveyor solutions to promptly attended to our clients call for assistance. While addressing the emergency splicing of the broken belt, our team also identified a critical issue with the TXT8 gearbox—a significant oil leak. Understanding the importance of a well-lubricated gearbox in our clients abrasive environment, our team proposed comprehensive solutions to ensure the continued functionality of the equipment.
The Solution
Upon discovering the substantial oil leak, our team presented the client with multiple options to address the issue and keep their operations running smoothly:
- Change the Gearbox: This option involved replacing the gearbox, ensuring a fresh and fully functional unit.
- Fill the Gearbox with 220 Weight Synthetic Oil: An alternative approach aimed at addressing the oil leak by using a specialized synthetic oil and adding grease to potentially soften the seals.
- Remanufacture the Gearbox: A more extensive solution involving the remanufacturing of the gearbox to restore it to optimal condition.
Given the nature of their environment—wet and abrasive—the customer opted to change the gearbox, leveraging the advantage of keeping spare gearboxes readily available. This decision was driven by the need for a reliable and efficient solution to maintain operations in their challenging working conditions.
